‘Sangeet Sadhana’, Bengaluru’s premier Indian Classical Music Academy, presented ‘Tarang’ an exclusive Hindustani Classical Music Concert to welcome the festive and joyous occasion of ‘Akshaya Tritiya’. This concert had featured world renowned flautist and living legend Padma Vibhushan Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia.

He was accompanied on the tabla by Pandit Subhankar Banerjee, an accomplished player, who had accompanied celebrities like Pandit Ravi Shankar, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma, Dr. L. Subramaniam, and many others. They were supported by Pandit Bhawani Shankar, on the Pakawaj or Mridang, a precursor of the tabla.

‘Tarang’ translates to ‘waves’ which are seemingly endless in the ocean expressing the continuity and depth of traditional Indian Classical music. This is what the audience experienced when the great legend Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, produced enchanting music from this ancient, mystical and simple instrument, the bamboo flute.
